How to Identify an Industrial Part
A practical process for identifying industrial replacement components from manufacturer evidence.
Start with the nameplate
Record the manufacturer name, exact part number, model code, serial number, voltage, pressure, displacement, connection, and any revision identifiers exactly as shown.
Separate the machine from the component
The equipment builder and the component manufacturer may be different. A machine model alone is rarely enough to confirm the installed valve, motor, pump, bearing, or control device.
Use photographs as supporting evidence
Provide a complete nameplate photograph, the whole component, connection points, mounting pattern, and scale reference. Appearance alone must not be treated as proof of compatibility.
Preserve units and option codes
Do not remove spaces, suffixes, voltage codes, rotation codes, seal materials, or revision letters. These values can distinguish technically different products.
